Caring Hands Pet Clinic recommends and offers microchip identification. Microchips are placed under the skin between the shoulder blades of dogs and cats. How the microchip works is if the animal is taken to the shelter or a local vet clinic they will use a scanner to look for a microchip. If the scanner finds a microchip a number will appear on the screen and that number corresponds with the Microchip Company. Any animal shelter or vet clinic can then call the microchip company and as long as your information is registered with the chip number they may obtain your information in order to contact you and reunite you with your furry friend. For smaller dogs and cats we often recommend a light anesthetic since the needle is quite large. If you have any further questions please call us and any of our staff would be happy to help you or visit the company website listed below.
