Surgery

Our surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. In most cases, a client’s biggest concerns are comfort and safety.

Our highly trained doctor and nursing staff follow strict anesthetic protocols to ensure the safety of your pet. Prior to anesthesia, blood work is evaluated to alert us to any potential abnormalities. Using the most modern equipment, the patient’s vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. During the anesthetic procedure the patient is kept stable on temperature-controlled blankets and supported with intravenous fluid therapy.

Pain management is another integral part of every surgical procedure. What will cause you pain, will cause your pet pain. However, they tend to not show pain until it is very severe. Pain management may involve pre- and post-operative analgesic injections as well as local anesthetic blocks. Oral pain medications are often dispensed in order to maintain comfort levels at home. At times your pet may even go home with a pain “patch” on their skin. Studies show that actively managing pain before it becomes a problem actually helps speed up your pet’s recovery.
